Taihu Mountain Tunnel of the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway Strives for Holing-through within This Month

According to the Railway Construction Office of Anhui Development and Reform Commission, on February 19, steady progress was made in the remaining projects of Taihu Mountain Tunnel of the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway and it was expected to be completed within February, which laid a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of the next phase of the Hanshan Section. In addition, more than 90% of the girder construction work has been completed in the front section of Lujiang Station of Hefei-Anqing High-Speed Railway.

According to relevant persons, the Hanshan Section of Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway was about 31 kilometers long. The Taihu Mountain Tunnel was constructed by the Fourth Engineering Co., Ltd. of China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd. with a total length of 3,618 meters. It is the longest tunnel with the highest construction standard and the most complicated geological conditions of the whole railway, which is a whole-line controlling project.

In addition to the tunnel project, the construction of the Hanshanxi Station is also speeding up. At present, the builders are paving the passenger passages and the foundation construction of the fire pools, the main structure of the fire-pump rooms, and the platform canopies has been completed in succession.

Meanwhile, the construction of Wuhu Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge of Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway is accelerating. At present, the top parts of the bridge’s two main towers have been completed, nearly 80% of the girder erection has been completed, and the project is expected to be finished in this May. In addition, among the 318 box girders in the front section of Lujiang Station of Hefei-Anqing High-Speed Railway, 291 ones have been erected and more than 90% of the girder construction tasks has been completed.

Relevant persons said that Hefei-Anqing High-Speed Railway was the main component of the Beijing-Hong Kong (Taipei) Passageway, the main passageway in the national medium- and long-term plan of “8 vertical and 8 horizontal” high-speed railway network. Its completion will shorten the time from Hefei to Anqing from the current 2 hours to 40 minutes, which will play an important role in improving the layout of the national high-speed railway network and driving the economic and social development of the areas along the railway.
