According to the newly revised Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Minors, KTVs are not allowed to have minors inside.
However, some parents are not buying this rule: “Why can’t I take my own child to a KTV”, they question.
“Can’t I take my kids to karaoke to sing? Not even on weekends? “Is there anything wrong with taking kids to sing?” Many parents interviewed said that they had no idea that taking a kid to KTV was prohibited.
Article 58 of the newly revised Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Minors clearly stipulates:
“Operators of commercial singing and dancing entertainment venues, bars, Internet access service business establishments and other venues that are not suitable for minors’ activities shall not allow minors to enter. Proprietors shall set up signs prohibiting or restricting minors in conspicuous positions; Where it is difficult to determine whether they are minors, they shall be required to present their identity documents. ”
Pang Tao, a prosecutor at the First Branch of the Beijing Municipal Procuratorate, believes that entertainment venues such as KTV are usually relatively dark, with all kinds of people inside, often smoking and drinking, and exposes kids to such habits, and these environment and atmosphere have a negative impact on the physical and mental health of minors.
This is also an important reason why the Law on the Protection of Minors makes the above-mentioned prohibitions. As guardians of their children, parents should fully and accurately understand and abide by relevant laws and lead by example.
Besides KTV, what other places prohibits kids from entry?
Operators of commercial singing and dancing entertainment venues, bars, Internet access service business venues, and others that are not suitable for minors’ activities must not allow them to enter.
Moreover, proprietors shall set up signs prohibiting minors from entering conspicuous positions; Where it is difficult to determine whether they are minors, they shall be required to present their identity documents.
Cases in which minors should be restricted:
Electronic game equipment set up in amusement and entertainment venues must not be provided to minors except on national statutory holidays.
This situation means that the electronic game equipment in amusement and entertainment venues shall not be provided to minors on non-national statutory holidays, not that minors are not allowed to enter the venues.
Reminder: Violations can be reported
Procurators remind parents to educate and guide minors to carry out activities beneficial to their physical and mental health, do not take them to singing and dancing entertainment venues, perform guardianship duties in accordance with law.
The prosecutor also stressed that minors under the age of 18 are not allowed to apply for jobs in singing and dancing entertainment venues. Any individual who finds a minors in a singing and dance entertainment venues have the right to dissuade, stop or call 12318 or 12309 to report.
