Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, joined in kicking off the 2019 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week on Thursday.
The event will run through June 19 in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, as the main venue, and seven other cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen in Guangdong province, Chengdu in Sichuan province, Wuhan in Hubei province, Xi’an in Shaanxi province, and Hefei in Anhui province.
Li Guoying, governor of Anhui, attended the opening ceremony of the event, staged in Anhui Innovation Center, the first innovation-themed museum in the country.
Details on an annual innovation and entrepreneurship competition were released at the ceremony. The city’s major achievements in innovation were also announced.
Meanwhile, the governor, together with some provincial and municipal officials, presented certificates to ten students in honor of their creativity.
The Hefei venue will hold an array of activities including exhibitions, consultations, road shows and forums during the weeklong event.
At the opening ceremony, the seven venues communicated with the main venue via video.
While addressing the activity in Hangzhou, Premier Li Keqiang called for further boosting mass entrepreneurship and innovation to better stabilize employment, promote innovation and strengthen new growth impetus, according to a report by Xinhua News Agency.
