The new version of the “Railway Passenger Transport Regulations” will be implemented from January 1, 2023, and the provision that height determines the eligibility of children’s tickets is about to change.
On November 17, the official website of the Ministry of Communication and transportation issued an updated Regulations on Railway Passenger Transportation
According to it , kids aged between 6 and 14 should buy children’s preferential tickets. Those over the age of 14 should buy a full price ticket. Each adult passenger with a ticket can carry a child under 6 years of age free of charge and should not occupy a separate seat;
Kids with a height of 1.2 meters and less than 1.5 meters should buy preferential tickets for children; Height of 1.5 meters or above , should buy a full price ticket. Each adult passenger with a ticket can carry a child who is less than 1.2 meters tall and should not occupy a separate seat for free.
The number of train tickets for children, seats should not be the same as the ticket held by the adult counterparts, and the arrival station shall not be far from the arrival station of the adult ticket.
According to the above provisions, children who occupy seats alone, should buy children’s tickets.
