A Hefei Institute Ranks No.1 in China


Among all research institutes in China, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences awarded the biggest bonus to staff members who did well in transforming scientific achievements in 2017, according to an annual report on China’s transformation of scientific achievements.

Located in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, the institute topped the rankings with 198.65 million yuan (US$29.60 million), followed by Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (165.99 million yuan) and Harbin Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (96.78 million yuan).

The Hefei institute gives a maximum of 70 percent of cash and stock bonuses and includes technical transformation into professional title reviews in a bid to encourage researchers’ initiative.

The 2018 Report on China’s Transformation of Scientific Achievements was jointly released by the National Center for Science & Technology Evaluation, Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China and Society of Management and Research on Scientific & Technological Achievements, based on a survey into 2,766 research institutes and universities nationwide.
